[Here is a simple example](https://jsfiddle.net/062m2fhv/3/) that puts a `<dialog>` inside a Shadow root, without using Polymer. Note that I am not 100% sure that this is entirely equivalent, since it is adding a shadow root on a `<div>` element, instead of using a custom element.
