The manifest is mainly metadata, put together to save writing repetitive meta tags. These properties provide some kind of identity to a set of web resources (property `scope`) in an origin. The metadata can be used to improve discoverability through "Add to home screen", "Install site", "Ambient badge" or other instances of the _install_ feature, but this is not the only use for metadata. Nevertheless, the new explainer over focus in the installation feature, linking the concept of manifest to the concept of installation of a web application (something artificial per se). -- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
