Oh, OK, right... As I commented in https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/721#issuecomment-187395277 I think that is less flexible. Also if `!` or `|` is actually part of the name it makes it difficult to use in systems that have XML name assumptions baked in (e.g. `createElement` but also server-side round-tripping and other tools, e.g. https://checker.html5.org/ comes to mind). --- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
