If we resolve not to update DOM, that'd be enough details to assure interoperability for JS developers (I guess), browsers may use shadow DOM or not, but the spec should be written so that such decisions do not break interoperability. Sure, I can change the wording so that it doesn't mention the method explicitly, if that's fine with @rniwa as well. > Did I make myself clear?
