@dperini - I am not sure mixing DOM concepts (DOM elements) and `window` (which is a `global`) is the right way to go but I defer to others for the rationale behind not adding such properties to `window` so far (I guess there is a rationale). By the way, the methods you mentioned look like legacy methods (introduced by a single browser in the first browser wars and copied by others for compatibility or competitiveness) to me and not a result of consensus or deep thinking, really.
