Perhaps we should require that by default the registration-free standard protocol is the one that's used. And if that's not supported by the UA, registration should fail. But also define that the registration call can accept a "protocol" parameter, where the page can choose to use a different different protocol if that's the only thing it supports (or that is has in common with the UA) --- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/push-api/issues/95#issuecomment-67057526
