This is a new mailing list for discussion about the application of Web technologies to facilitate the development of applications for the Internet of Things, i.e. physical objects and their virtual representation. This includes sensors and actuators, as well as physical objects tagged with a bar code or NFC. Relevant Web technologies include HTTP for accessing RESTful services, and for naming objects as a basis for linked data and rich descriptions, and JavaScript APIs for virtual objects acting as proxies for real-world objects. The short term aim is to reach a broad consensus on the scope and roadmap for a charter for a W3C Community Group devoted to the Web of Things. The draft charter is open for communal editing, and if you would like write access, please contact Dave Raggett <dsr@w3.org>. https://docs.google.com/document/d/18BhZ4AMgFQo_BfOo9x4R6Z76igCgGjfpO5LVTMeKj9g/ Follow up emails will cover some ideas for the role of the community group. The aim is to finalize the charter and launch the community group by the end of July 2013. Note that anyone subscribed to the list may post to it, as well as anyone authorized to post to any other W3C mailing list. This measure is intended to reduce the level of spam. -- Dave Raggett <dsr@w3.org> http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett
