[W3C Webmob] Welcome back everyone!

Happy new year everyone!

Welcome back from the holiday break! I hope everyone had a great time and made sure to rest. I spent the break driving round California in a 15 seater van - I will tell you the stories when I next see you in person!

So as you will have seen the group has started 2014 off to a good start! Dom has got the TAG talking about permissions and Marcos started a very successful document on Network Info APIs on top of the work on Installable Web Apps (many thanks to those who helped out on this).

Next week we have a call scheduled for Wed 22nd at 15:00 GMT. I will send out an agenda nearer to the time (please email the mailing list if you have special topics you wish to add). For now I would like to draw your attention to the following work which has been kicked off, but needs your input and support to reach conclusions:

* Network Information: *
https://github.com/w3c-webmob/netinfo
Marcos and co. have done a great job detailing use cases for the Network Information API. Add yours by forking the github repo and sending a pull request.

* Permissions *
http://www.w3.org/wiki/Mobile/Work#TASK_FORCE:_Permissions
As stated above and in the last email Dom has detailed some new work which needs to be done in the Permissions Task Force. Please add yourself to the task force and get started with helping Dom document and test permissions!

* Offline *
https://github.com/w3c-webmob/offline
http://www.w3.org/wiki/Mobile/Work#TASK_FORCE:_Offline
I will be kickstarting the offline document and testing over the next few days. Please check the github repo and see the skeleton of the document. Currently I think it is focussing too much on the past issues but I still feel like these things need to be documented. Take a look and let me know your honest thoughts. If you wish to join me in the Offline Task Force please also remember to add yourself to the Work wiki page.

* Payments *
http://www.w3.org/wiki/Mobile/Work#TASK_FORCE:_Payments
http://www.w3.org/2013/10/payments/topics.html
The workshop on web payments (24/25 March) is quickly approaching! At TPAC the chair of the community group (Manu Sporny) appealed to us to provide use cases and requirements for mobile web payments. We should use the workshop as a deadline for providing these use cases and requirements as this will help the conversations which could decide the future of the W3C payments work. This task force still needs a leader, so I am looking for a volunteer to help steer this.

As stated before, please send any comments or questions to myself or Marcos, we’re always happy to hear from you!

Many thanks!
