Nigel, all, Thanks for drafting! > 1. The Media and Entertainment Interest Group recognises that playback of TTML subtitles and captions needs to be supported by the web platform as a whole. The Media and Entertainment Interest Group recognises that although playback of TTML subtitles and captions (especially in the IMSC profile) is already common practice on the web, better integration in HTML 5 and support by the web platform as a whole are needed. Topic 3 and 4 should be left out for the moment as they are already answers for questions we still investigate. The Media and Entertainment Interest Group recognises that playback of TTML subtitles and captions needs to be supported by the web platform as a whole. 2. The playback of TTML subtitles and captions on the web platform requires a CSS mapping for all the presentation features for which support is needed in the IMSC profiles of TTML, i.e. that for any given style attribute value permitted in IMSC there is an equivalent set of CSS property values that can be applied to equivalent HTML elements to achieve the same semantics. 3. The playback of TTML subtitles and captions on the web platform is best supported by allowing Text Track Cues to be created that support the generic presentation semantics of HTML and CSS. 4. The playback of TTML subtitles and captions on the web platform should include the ability to create appropriate Text Track Cues from data provided via Media Source Extensions. Reading that back, it looks a bit like a manifesto. Anyway, comments or editing suggestions welcome, or indeed indications of support for making these proposals into resolutions. kind regards, Nigel ________________________________________ From: Media and Entertainment Interest Group Issue Tracker [sysbot+tracker@w3.org] Sent: 09 November 2017 02:37 To: <mailto:public-web-and-tv@w3.org> public-web-and-tv@w3.org Subject: webtv-ACTION-261: draft a proposal for the IG to confirm a desire for HTML and CSS to support TTML playback webtv-ACTION-261: draft a proposal for the IG to confirm a desire for HTML and CSS to support TTML playback <http://www.w3.org/2011/webtv/track/actions/261> http://www.w3.org/2011/webtv/track/actions/261 Assigned to: Nigel Megitt On product: tt draft a proposal for the IG to confirm a desire for HTML and CSS to support TTML playback ----------------------------- <http://www.bbc.co.uk> http://www.bbc.co.uk This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated.
