[testing] Notes from Web & TV Testing TF Kick-off meeting (Feb. 5)

Attendees: Mark Vickers, Bryan Sullivan, Kaz Ashimura, Paul Higgs, Sergey Slovetskiy, Yosuke, Clarke Stevens

This is just a reminder that we will have the initial meeting of the Web & TV Test TF today. Any interested W3C member is welcome.

You can get information about the TF here:

http://www.w3.org/2011/webtv/wiki/Testing

Here is the agenda:

  *   Introductions

>We should participate in new testing task force and testing framework
>Should we be independent for other testing task forces or should we meet with other groups.

>Framework Task Force: scope, requirements, plan for a W3C testing framework.
>Test Management Task Force: scope, requirements, plan for a W3C test management system.
>Documentation Task Force: how do we increase the set of documentation around testing?

  * Discussion of the scope and deliverables

>Resolved: We'll continue to meet separately for now, but believe our objectives can be achieved much faster than expected. We may be done within a few weeks. Then we should work with the other groups.

  * Tasks of the task force

>Flesh out Mark's four (+2) requirements and determine if there are any others.
>>Central: one home for all W3C tests
>>Configurable: which specs and tests to run
>>One click: to run all tests
>>Results: detailed pass/fail results for each test to take away (also consider secure signature)
>>Scriptable
>>Remotely runnable

>Prepare this as input to other groups

>Tobie Langels is creating a gap analysis between various systems and tools used by various browser companies. What would it take to come together?

>Requirements from DLNA and CoreMob (wireless) have a huge overlap. One set of requirements may satisfy both.

  *   Schedule

>Weekly for a few weeks, then done?

  *   Open discussion

>Will work out better communications next week:
>Use standard W3C IRC stuff
>Use W3C conference number
>Use GoToMeeting for screen sharing

>Clarke will set up doodle to choose meeting time
