Hi, There have been discussions around Web applications packaging within the Web and TV Interest Group, during workshops in particular. There are various solutions available today, including proprietary approaches as well as standards based solutions such as HTML5 Application Cache and W3C Widgets. I thought I'd let you know that W3C will organize a workshop to discuss the future of these features, next to TPAC, on 5 November 2011, hosted by Vodafone, close to Santa Clara, CA, USA. If you haven't done so already (a few of you already did, I think), you might want to check the call for participation at: http://www.w3.org/2011/web-apps-ws/ The deadline for position papers has been extended to 12 October 2011.
