Hi all,
I briefly talked about this proposed IG with the W3C Management, and
the conclusion included the following two points.
1. In which domain should this proposed IG be included?
--------------------------------------------------------
It is confirmed that this proposed IG will be included in the
Ubiquitous Web Domain which is led by Philipp Hoschka, and I, Kazuyuki
Ashimura, will be the staff contact for the group.
=> So I'd suggest we change the logo in the draft charter [1] from WAI
to UbiWeb :)
BTW, if you want and agree, I can install the draft charter on the
W3C Web server for convenience.
2. Classification/Clarification of items to do
-----------------------------------------------
We (=W3C Management and I) think there are several categories for this
work and what we do in the IG should be to firm up what goes in what
category area (=which group).
Category1: Topics that should be done by the possible new WG which could
be launched next year.
Category2: New/additional requirements for existing WGs. We should
sort out the items and make sure that the right requirements get
funneled into the right WGs.
Category3: Liaison work that goes on outside W3C. We should just
document this for the record but should not try to re-create
existing standards within W3C.
Category4: The areas we are uncertain at the moment like DRM. We
should first list the topics for this category, and then discuss
whether the uncertain stuff ends up in WG or be requirements for an
existing group or be outside the scope of W3C.
=> So I'd suggest we modify the Scope and Deliverables sections of the
initial draft charter [1] and explicitly say "we'll classify the topics
suggested during the workshop into these four categories..." to get the
IG well chartered and make it even easier and smoother to launch the
expected new WG.
