[WCAG2ICT] Clarification on the timeline for publishing our WCAG2ICT draft for wide review

Hi all,

Chuck cleared up the timing/schedule with the AG chairs for the publication of the WCAG2ICT draft.

The following timeline is expected, barring any blocking issues or last-minute -1 votes on publishing.

  1. Tues. 25 June: AG WG in-meeting vote on a Resolution to begin the Call for Consensus (CfC) to publish WCAG2ICT.
  2. Tues. 25 June: If the resolution is made in the AG WG meeting, the CfC to publish starts the same day to the AG WG with a 4 working day response deadline.
  3. Mon. 1 July: AG WG’s CfC to publish WCAG2ICT completes. Barring any unresolved -1 votes, a notice asking for W3C leadership approval will go out.
  4. Friday 5 July (May be delayed to Friday 12 July due to the U.S. holiday weekend): Obtain W3C leadership approval notifying AG WG that WCAG2ICT can be published.
  5. Tues. 9 July or Thurs. 11 July (May be delayed to 16 July or 18 July): Publication of WCAG2ICT with accompanying WAI news item and social media posts. Email will go out to begin horizontal review. Email will also go out to organizations we specified in the WIKI.
  6. 30-day comment period: This time span begins on the publication date.
  7. 60-day horizontal review period: This time span begins on the publication date. We will be encouraging/asking reviewers to complete their review within 30 days since this is a Note and not a full standard.

Once published, we’ll meet to every other week to discuss and handle any public comments received until such a time as the comment period is done and all issues are resolved. Provided there are a limited number of substantive changes, the finalized note will go through a similar process and be published as a final WCAG2ICT Working Group Note – targeted for September or October.
