Hi all, Here is my review of comment # 14 for discussion in this week's call. <start comment excerpt> #14 (submitted by Jason White) SC 1.3.5 [Information required to understand and operate content does not rely on shape, size, visual location, or orientation of components.] Comment: This criterion is specific to aspects of visual presentation. Suppose however that the content is written in VoiceXML or a comparable format designed to control auditory presentation. Surely the same requirement should apply, for the benefit for example of users who are deaf. Proposed change: Generalize this criterion so that it is not modality-specific, i.e., not limited to visual presentation. <end comment excerpt> I agree with this observation and suspect that some other SC could also do with a change to make them less specific to one particular mode. Unfortunately, the proposed change does not give a concrete suggestion. I did not find any similar issues in Bugzilla, but did note that #8 (taken on by Cynthia) is along the same lines. I suggest that the wording of the SC needs to be changed. For example: "Information required to understand and operate content does not rely on aspects particular to one mode of access". This would, of course, need further explanation in the How To Meet doc and a definition of "mode".
