In last week's Hypertext Coordination Group call, the Compound Document Formats WG requested feedback on their issue as to "how to identify (as with a MIME type) the content profile of a compound document?" The issue is reviewed in the following appendix which should be treated as a Request for Comments: http://www.w3.org/TR/WICD/#media-type-argument It seemed to me that this problem is like "how do you tell User Agents what [natural] languages are in a document when there are more than one?" http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wcag-teamb/2005Sep/thread.html#15 In particular, any arguments that have convinced us one should not simply rely on HTTP header field values (there are none for websites distributed on CD) need to be brought forward.
