RE: [Curricula] -- User perspectives on flashing content

Thanks, Estella.

Hopefully we will have something of that nature when we create the videos on How People with Disabilities Use the Web. For context,
see

https://www.w3.org/2022/01/07-eo-minutes.html#item05

There were scripts for SCs 2.3.1 and 2.3.2 that the videos group was discussing last year.

Best.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for coming back to me on this issue.

I fully understand your point about linking content to resources you don't have control over. It would be valuable to have a WAI
video on "Flashing content" that could be added in the teaching resources section along with the "Perspective videos".

But, as mentioned during the meeting on Tuesday, I leave the final decision to Editor's discretion.

Best regards,

Hey Estella,

Thanks for your helpful pointer to the Epilepsy Foundation. I would agree that it helps understand the broader scope of seizures
and how they affect people.

As agreed, I have brought this to the planning team.

- We understand and agree with your point that we should include the user's perspective, specifically in the case of the designer.
- However, we do not feel comfortable linking to resources we don't have control over. There are exceptions to this rule, for
example in the Business Case. But most of the resources we create (including the curricula) link to places we have control and can
update if need be.

In addition to the changes we discussed the other day in the meeting, we are proposing to add explicit advice for instructors to
encourage students to learn more about the different types of seizures caused by flashes. We think this is a nice pointer for
instructors to use the most appropriate resources according to their student's needs.

To preview these changes in context, you can see Topic Movement and Animations, teaching ideas, second bullet.

Would you be comfortable with these changes? Do you think these additions communicate more clearly the relevance of including the
user's perspective when teaching this content?

Thanks.

Best.
