judy: Notes Shawn appreciates heads up of 5 days and
predictable steps
gk: me too!
FYI, staff transition planning
judy: Notes announcement from Shadi and thanks people for their
well wishes in response
judy: Notes 3-4 month notice
judy: Notes lots of coordination; we're working on making the
transition smooth
judy: Expecting W3C will fill the position
judy: Looking at workload balance in the process but expect
news in the next few weeks
judy: If any questions or concerns, please feel free now or
ping me later
judy: Smooth transition is the top priority
gk: Will his position be recruited in Europe?
judy: Funds for that are in Europe; and it's fully funded
externally; so will need E.U. work authorization
judy: Ideas welcome, of course
judy: Permutations are possibilities, but the work
authorization is key
brent: Notes Shadi's involvement with specific EO projects;
will new person pick that up?
judy: Looking for maximum smoothness of transition
judy: But, we're also doing a review of our work and work
organization; so may be some rebalancing
judy: Many things are defined in funding, so significant
deviation very unlikely
brent: We've been looking what was he involved in and what was
he actually managing ... Don't forsee problems, but we're
trying to figure it out
brent: We also need to re-evaluate our work
judy: Suggest you assume continuity as a baseline
brent: We plan to share any gaps we identify ... some
scheduling challenges in the review timeline ... but sooner not
later
judy: Notes Shadi had lots of work in EO
judy: Notes also ACT work
judy: Checks with people re intersections with Shadi ...
judy: Asks anything to sync on ...
judy: Notes Steve is following up on COGA ...
Update back from WAI Extended meeting
judy: Recalls asking input for team mtg that is now in process
judy: some questions from here have been taken up
judy: we're trying to take a comprehensive overview
judy: team discussion included wcag 3 expectations
judy: Any input at this stage?
Periodic check-in on how WAI groups are doing on their chartered
milestones?
judy: thanks group for input last time
judy: asks whether anyone ready for quick update? Or perhaps
plan for next mtg?
james: Notes ARIA is under staffed to stay up with the
timjeline, so very behind
judy: And ARIA needs certain skillset
james: some good new folks, but getting people well integrated
we need implementations in browsers
james: competing priorities get in the way
judy: dialog is ongoing?
james: totally, except firefox which has fallen off w3c
james: we have webkit and chromium; speed just isn't what we'd
like
james: sometimes we pull things out of the spec; sometimes we
run into challenges we didn't forsee and need to redo spec
james: we're stuck because the req on browser implementation
judy: Notes different approaches in the past; but unsure of
current fit --workshop and submit patch?
james: potentially hard; approvers are already in group, for
instance
judy: virtual workshop?
james: competing priorities
tzviya: Notes people care much more about ARIA than they often
let on; suggests some brainstorming about how to get motion out
of that
judy: suggests a call phps for a group
janina: asks about APA charter progress ...
judy: possibly a miscommunication a few weeks ago ... unclear
whether responses on charter went out
judy: think APA is close to done, but need to close all the
loops
judy: asks re rec track items
becky: personalization is late according to current charter
judy: and new charter?
becky: fairly close
judy: Asks EO has timeline deliverables?
brent: items part of E.U. funding that have deadline
expectations; but not in charter
brent: charter has 2 years left
brent: we've progress on almost every deliverable; we're in
good shape
judy: Good, expect we'll check in phps quarterly
Periodic check-in on transparency of Task Forces, and TF sub-groups
judy: raises discoverability of task forces and work ongoing
... have had recent complaint ...
judy: Notes TFs should be visible from main page. Any subgroups
in current TFs?
brent: no subgroups
tzviya: we know the struct because we meet
Judy: concern is people around the planet finding work they may
need to be aware of
