WAI presentations remote on 17 November at AHG

Dear WAI Interest Group,

The Accessing Higher Ground (AHG) Virtual Conference starts Monday 14 November. By registering for the virtual conference, you can choose to participate live and *you can watch the videos after the event*.

Registration and more information is available at:
 https://accessinghigherground.org/virtual-2022/

WAI will present two sessions on Thursday.

1. The WAI to Web Accessibility: A Tour of New Resources from the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)
with Shawn Lawton Henry and Kevin White
Find out about new and surprising free resources from W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), the organization that develops Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

WAI resources help you create an environment where accessibility flourishes — whether you need to better understand how people use the web, prepare a business case to secure management support, train developers who are new to accessibility, integrate accessibility into a project plan, write an accessibility statement or policy, or meet international standards.

Learn about free online resources on the WAI website. We'll introduce you to videos, tips, tutorials, tools (for generating reports and accessibility statements), translations (over 35 languages), training (a free online course), and much more. There are resources for content authors, designers, developers, evaluators, testers, managers, policy makers, trainers, educators, web users, advocates, and people with disabilities.

Learn where to find answers to your questions on the WAI website.

You'll also get a sneak peek at new resources to be published in the coming months. And learn how you can help advance web accessibility and share your insights with others.

2. WAI Curricula: Build, Compare, and Select Courses on Web Accessibility
with Daniel Montalvo and Sarah Lewthwaite

Find out how the WAI Curricula can help you build, compare, and select courses on web accessibility. Explore how to include accessibility in your existing ICT courses using a rigorously vetted, high quality set of learning outcomes. Learn how additional materials, including ideas for teaching and assessment, help those who are new to teaching accessibility to improve their teaching.

The WAI Curricula provides a framework to create, compare, and select courses on web accessibility. This modular, role-based curricula contain learning outcomes, as well as ideas for teaching and assessment. The session will:
- explore the roles addressed
- explore the existing curricula
- provide examples on how instructors could create their own courses based on existing curricula
- provide examples on how to include the learning objectives in already existing ICT courses, such as courses for designers, developers, and content authors

---

Hope to virtually see you there!

Best,
~Shawn
