I would indeed be happy to land these changes during the P2021 cycle. As you say, it'll make it easier for everybody to focus on the important issues about the Director. Also as an Editor, it will also make my life easier, as maintaining a "director free" branch up to date with the master branch is harder when there are (small) changes all over the place, as these tend to cause git conflicts that have to be resolved manually every time something changes on the main branch.
