Waiting for the Director to indicate that he plans to step down before we sort out the details would force us to do a rush job. Better be ready early than late. I started the discussion about the absolute need for a contingency plan with Ann Bassetti, then an AB member and far from her last mandate. How many years ago was that? I immediately told her that it was a fact the Director was mostly away, not conducting transition calls any more and everything on his radar was done « in the name of the Director » by someone else. The W3F was already there. I also discussed it with PLH probably 8 or 10 years ago during a lunch together in Paris, discussed it several times with many famous ACs, most ABs and I recall at least one chat with the CEO. Everyone, absolutely everyone, says in private we must do it ASAP and has said it for ten years, ahem. In public, that’s a different story. Speaking of rush in case of problem, we’re not early. We are terribly late and I call that a dangerous lack of management. </Daniel>
