Could you  just mark up each Article on the page using
http://schema.org/Article?

If there is some significance to the order in which the individual articles
appear, then you do indeed  need some kind of list.

Item lists are ordered lists of Text* - the descriptive comments give
examples of top ten lists; the two properties are for list membership and
whether the list is in ascending or descending order.
