Proposal for new Schema.org extension: Charts

At GigaOM, we've been producing charts for both our news site (
http://www.gigaom.com) used in articles and our research site (
http://pro.gigaom.com) used in research reports...We've been thinking of
extending CreativeWork to have some properties that are specific to charts
(and the underlying data)...

This whole process is totally new to me...and I'd like some guidance on how
to get it out there...we are currently defining it and should be done with
that in about one month. We will go back and add the markup to our existing
charts...we will also publish the extensions somewhere on gigaom.com ...

what then? how do we get it up on the schema.org sites so others can start
using as well? when do search engines start noticing??

any guidance is appreciated...
