I'm also not sure how those of us not already involved with OGC can best participate. The .doc says "The first meeting of the committee will be held by telephone conference call on May 30, 2013 at 10am eastern" -- is the work already underway, or was launch delayed? Over at schema.org - http://schema.org/Place http://schema.org/docs/full.html - we have quite a lot of POI-oriented types (Volcano, HairSalon etc :), although the geo-specific aspects need more attention. I'd be happy to talk about intereop with POI standards anytime. cheers, Dan > ☮ > > Excerpts from Raj Singh's message of 2013-08-26 12:45:32 +0000: > > The POI data specification work has moved from the W3C to OGC in a > standards working group that was just created: > > http://www.opengeospatial.org/pressroom/pressreleases/1834 > > > > Using the W3C work as a starting point, we hope to have a draft for > public comment out before the end of the year. > > > > --- > > Raj > > The OGC: Making location count. > > http://www.opengeospatial.org/ogc/organization/staff/rsingh > > > > On Aug 26, at 2:40 AM, ☮ elf Pavlik ☮ <perpetual-tripper@wwelves.org> > wrote: > > > > > Howdy, > > > > > > I've just found and joined 'Places' CG > http://www.w3.org/community/places/ > > > And would like to shortly check how it relates to > http://www.w3.org/community/geosemweb/ > > > BTW thank you once again for sharing all the great resources on: > http://www.w3.org/community/geosemweb/wiki/Main_Page > > > > > > Last week I have found: http://www.w3.org/TR/poi-core/ (cc: editor) > which seams relevant to work of both groups :) > > > > > > ☮ > > > > >
