schema.org itemtypes for various pages on a blog

Hi everyone,

 

I'm new to microdata, and struggling with the itemtypes of various pages (in
the html tag) on a blog.

 

My feeling so far is:

 

Blog Homepage                Blog

About Me Page                AboutPage

Contact Page                     ContactPage

Search Results                   SearchResultsPage

Single Posts                        BlogPosting

Archive Pages*                 CollectionPage

Generic Pages                   WebPage

Pages on a Topic               Article

 

* Category, tag, author, and date archives

 

Is this close to correct?

 

I'm just a little confused as to whether the homepage should be WebPage or
Blog (as Blog is a CreativeWork, but NOT a child of WebPage)? If it should
be WebPage, where does the Blog itemscope begin? In the wrapper tag for the
blog posts on the homepage and the archive pages?

 

It's the Blog or WebPage choice I don't get.
