FW: Daylight Saving Time (DST) change -- second half of 2023

TTWG,

I propose that for meetings on and after Thursday 9 November 2023, at least until the next DST change, we update our meeting time to 16:00 UTC (it is currently 15:00 UTC) to maintain the same local time in the places where most of our participants join from. This is what we usually do.

We will confirm this on our next call, on Thursday 26 October, but if you would like to make any comments or alternative suggestions then please do so by replying to this email.

Our current recurring calendar event at https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/timed-text/calendar/ has its last meeting on 26 October; I expect to extend the series or create a new recurring event with the new time to continue our regular pattern of meeting every 2 weeks.

Kind regards,

Nigel

Dear Chairs,

This is a friendly reminder about the upcoming Daylight Saving Time change:

https://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/events.html <https://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/events.html>

Most European clocks shift back 1 hr on Sunday 29 October 2023. Most of
the US/Canada clocks shift back 1 hr a week later, Sunday 5 November 2023.

Between October 29 and November 5, the time difference between Canada/US
and Europe will be 1 hour less than it currently is. This means that for
that week the teleconferences that are scheduled according to the
US/Canada clock will start *one hour earlier* in local time for most
Europeans.

China, Japan and Russia do not observe DST, which means the time
difference between these areas and Europe/Canada/US will be one hour
more than it currently is.

Please share this information with your groups, as it will have an
impact on teleconferences. If you are unsure about the scheduled time of
any teleconference, please confirm the time arrangements with your
meeting host.

web meeting across time zones:
