Dear Mr. Lambshead:

Thank you for your message of June 2nd 2014, forwarded to the TTWG by Mike
Dolan and for your previous feature requirements transmitted September 2012.

We thank you for your ongoing interest and support in the development of
TTML and its profiles.

Since you are considering using IMSC it would be helpful to know how we have
agreed to progress within W3C. In order to expedite a first recommendation
of IMSC we will initially work towards IMSC 1, based on TTML 1SE.
Simultaneously we will be working on the next version of TTML, TTML2. TTML2
will include substantive changes. We will make a recommendation for IMSC 2
based on TTML2.

The earlier requirements liaison has resulted in a number of open issues
submitted against TTML2 [1] to adopt features proposed by SMPTE. It is our
intention to review and resolve these issues in TTML2. We will inform you of
the status of those issues when they have been resolved. Subsequently we
will consider adopting those TTML2 solutions within IMSC 2 as outlined
above. In doing so we may replace or deprecate features included within IMSC
1, particularly those features defined in non-TTML namespaces. There may
also be changes to the namespaces in which elements and attributes are
defined.

As it develops IMSC and TTML, W3C TTWG invites SMPTE to keep it
appraised of amendment and revisions related to ST 2052-1, and
welcomes continued input on IMSC and TTML.

The latest editor's draft of IMSC 1 can be found at [2].
