Hi as you know, we will soon transition VTT “1.0” on to the Recommendation track so it can become a standard. This will happen in the context of this Timed Text working group (TTWG), for which a new charter will be needed. This was discussed both at the face to face, and on (at least) the call today, so this is a repeat for many people. There is a draft of this charter which, in particular, asks that the VTT specification should be allowed to proceed under the license (CC-BY) approved for experimental use for HTML extensions. The draft charter is at <http://www.w3.org/2013/12/timed-text-charter-david.html>. This draft needs two small corrections: the phrase "and thus we can effectively retire them” is ambiguous and should be removed, and it should be made clear that this also forms part of the experiment. If you have concerns about this, and in particular if you think your AC rep will raise objections in AC review, please bring them up now. We would like re-chartering to proceed smoothly. Many thanks David Singer Multimedia and Software Standards, Apple Inc.
