I took this action last month for suggesting how URL redirection should apply regarding the updated, merged first party definition. As I noted in the action (but neglected previously to send to the full mailing list), the existing text from the editors in October seems sufficient. We would add these two sentences to the end of the existing first party definition paragraph, or optionally create another subsection (along with multiple first parties). My only substantive change is to note that redirection services may also be service providers. > In some cases, web requests are redirected through intermediary domains, such as URL shorteners or framing pages, before eventually delivering the content that the user was attempting to access. The operators of these intermediary domains are third parties, unless they are a common party or service provider to the operator of either the referring page or the eventual landing page. I expect service provider to the referring page to be one of the most common situations -- like using a custom URL shortener provided by a service provider for your site's outgoing links. —Nick
