charter extension announced; PAG launched

We have sent two announcements to the W3C Advisory Committee today:


1. The TPWG charter is extended by 6 months.  At the same time, we have announced that we've begun work on the planning for a W3C workshop to chart next steps for W3C's work on Web privacy and tracking. This workshop will also be an opportunity to share lessons learned implementing Do Not Track, evaluations of its impact, and to provide input into the group's high-level direction. We are aiming to hold the workshop in October, likely on the US West Coast.


2. We have launched a PAG to address US patent 8,156,206 and its impact not he Tracking Preference Expression draft.  Charter:

The PAG will operate in W3C member confidential space, and will release a public report.  By default, it includes the W3C AC representatives of the member organizations that are represented in this Working Group.  AC representatives can use a registration form linked from the PAG charter to nominate alternates.  We anticipate that the PAG will take up work shortly.
