All,
The Web Services Description Working Group just published a first
public Working Draft of its WSDL 2.0 RDF mapping:
Web Services Description Language (WSDL) Version 2.0: RDF Mapping
W3C Working Draft 4 November 2005
http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-wsdl20-rdf-20051104/
The Working Group would like to request feedback on this document.
I would like to draw your attention on the status section:
[[
The final disposition of this deliverable is currently under discussion.
The Web Services Description Working Group charter puts this deliverable
on the Recommendation track, but the Working Group has concerns about its
ability to deliver on this goal. Primary among those concerns are:
1. resource constraints (only a portion of the Working Group membership
has taken an active role in progressing this deliverable, and the time
remaining in our Working Group's lifespan is rapidly diminishing),
2. lack of prerequisite knowledge among the general Working Group
membership (very few members are proficient in Semantic Web
technologies, making active review of the material difficult, and
actions to move this forward as a full Working Group product somewhat
disingenuous), and
3. a lack of clarity on who the customer base for this deliverable is
(the majority of members of the Working Group are not planning to make
direct use of this deliverable.)
If the Working Group is unable to satisfactorily address these concerns,
it may pursue alternate dispositions of this material, such as
transferring this deliverable to a Working Group more representative of
the customers of this work, or publishing it as a Working Group Note
rather than a Recommendation.
The Working Group therefore calls for communities relying on this
deliverable to identify themselves and provide requirements and feedback
on mechanisms to promote wider member and public investment in, and review
of, this work. This feedback, as well as technical comments on the
document, are invited and are to be sent to the public
public-ws-desc-comments@w3.org mailing list (public archive).
]]
Any feedback sent to public-ws-desc-comments@w3.org will be very much
appreciated.
Regards,
Hugo
