In English, “the” does not always represent a singular instance of something, but rather sometimes the general class of that thing. For example, a wildlife documentary might refer to “the majestic lion” without necessarily talking about one specific lion. In the descriptions given in the vocabulary, the use of “the” does not (and should not be taken as to) imply that a property is restricted to one value.
