This launch was with the ActivityPods team, but I’m mostly focused on SolidOS now, which aims to build a Web OS based on Solid. ActivityPub integration is definitely on the roadmap. As for adoption, I’m not the best person for exact numbers since a lot of that isn’t public, and we don’t collect detailed user stats. That said, I ran the first and largest public Solid pod for about a quarter of a decade. We had 50k-100k signups, but retention was low—less than 100 daily active users, mostly due to bugs, especially with the auth system. People tried it, hit issues, and didn’t stick around. Still lots of room for improvement, and we’re working on it. Inrupt is doing a lot of enterprise work, though we don’t have insight into their numbers. They seem to be doing well as a business. There’s also been talk of Solid being used for 6.5 million citizens in Flanders. The Press Release mentioned it would be the foundation for a government-hosted data vault, but I’m not sure if it’s live yet. Solid is part of a working group now and might become a standard by 2026-2027, if all goes well. For now, we’ve got a few teams improving different parts of Solid, about 10 loosely active devs on SolidOS, and maybe 100+ in the broader ecosystem. > > Thanks! > > > [image: Photo of Chris Messina] <https://chrismessina.me> > > Chris Messina <https://chrismessina.me> > > Product Therapist • Citizen Agency > > Previously: Google, Uber, Republic, Y Combinator 🏆 #1 Product Hunter > <https://chrismessina.me/hunt-me> > > [image: Threads] <https://threads.net/@chris>[image: Product Hunt] > <https://www.producthunt.com/@chrismessina>[image: Mastodon] > <https://mastodon.xyz/@chrismessina>[image: Spotify] > <https://open.spotify.com/user/factoryjoe>[image: LinkedIn] > <https://linkedin.com/in/factoryjoe/>[image: Instagram] > <https://instagram.com/chris>[image: Medium] > <https://medium.com/@chrismessina> > > > On Wed, Oct 09, 2024 at 1:11 AM, Melvin Carvalho <melvincarvalho@gmail.com > > wrote: > >> Hi all, >> >> Just wanted to share a link that might interest those of you who are into >> both Solid (Social Linked Data) and ActivityPub, like me!
