I join SWEO a couple of months ago. It is good to know and let known in such a community. I might be one of very few people in this community from Asia -- I'm located in Beijing, China. Actually I works for IBM in its China Research Lab (http://www.research.ibm.com/beijing/) and here's my homepage in IBM Reserach (http://www.research.ibm.com/people/p/panyue). If you will trip to Beijing, please let me know if you'd like to stop by and visit the lab. I started to work on Semantic Web since 1990s, when I worked on PICS ( http://www.w3.org/PICS/) and then watched the emerging of RDF standard and applications like TAP (http://tap.stanford.edu) in early days. After joining IBM, I moved to work on Natural Language Processing for a few years and then switch back on Semantic Web since 2002. An outcome of my research team (Lei Zhang, Li Ma, Guo Tong Xie, ...) is Integrated Ontology Development Toolkit (IODT). IODT is an effort trying to bridge Semantic Web community and Model Driven Architecture which is selected as the modeling architecture in industry. An part of it (EODM) is a reference implementation of OMG's Ontology Definition Metamodel ( http://www.omg.org/ontology/). EODM is also available from Eclipse. Another part of IODT is a scalable ontology repository supporting SPARQL and DLP reasoning. We have a lot of cooperation with universities in China. With APEX lab of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (http://apex.sjtu.edu.cn), we research into the ontology engineering environment and semantic wiki. We also teach a course "Semantic Web Principle and Applications" in SJTU. We also have joint research with Tsinghua University and Southeast Univeristy and taught a few classes in Peking University and Tsinghua University. Recently my team is working on applying Semantic Web principle into metadata and master data management, as well as solutions for industries like financial market and healthcare. Again, I believe the application of Semantic Web within enterprises will greatly help the Semantic Web as a whole, just like intranets to the Internet. If you are new, it'd be great if you could send out an introduction to the mailing list. These introductions are then linked to the Wiki page [1].
