Hi there, Hummm don't think that should be different than preferredLabel... Maybe i was not clear enough: the concepts mentioned below were different concepts with same preferred label in one language (FR and ES). My examples were the following: - I have one skos:concept which has english preferred label politics (EN), and french preferred label is politique (FR) - then I have another skos:concept which has english preferred label policies (EN), and french preferred label is also politique (FR) so in this case 2 concepts have same french preferred label... In skos would be: <skos:Concept rdf:about="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_6062"> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="en">Policies</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="fr">Politique</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="es">Políticas</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="ar">سياسات</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="zh">政策</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="pt">Política</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="th">นโยบาย</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="ja">政策</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="sk">politika</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="de">POLITIK</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="hu">politika</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="pl">Polityka</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="fa">سیاستها</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="it">Politiche</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="hi">राजनीतियाँ</skos:prefLabel> <skos:changeNote rdf:parseType="Resource"> <rdf:value>The last modification for this concept was for the term in SK</rdf:value> <dc:creator> <foaf:Organization><foaf:name>FAO/GILW</foaf:name></foaf:Organization> </dc:creator> <dc:date>2007-11-20 00:00:00.0</dc:date> <dc:language> <dcterms:RFC1766> <rdf:value>EN</rdf:value> <rdfs:label>English</rdfs:label> </dcterms:RFC1766> </dc:language> </skos:changeNote> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_28672"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_16181"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_7465"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_7132"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_6515"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_3060"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_3023"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_2939"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_2597"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_2228"/> <skos:narrower rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_201"/> <skos:related rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_24951"/> <skos:related rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_130"/> </skos:Concept> and the other concept would be <skos:Concept rdf:about="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_49988"> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="en">politics</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="fr">politique</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="es">política</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="zh">政治学</skos:prefLabel> <skos:prefLabel xml:lang="pt">Política</skos:prefLabel> <skos:changeNote rdf:parseType="Resource"> <rdf:value>The last modification for this concept was for the term in PT</rdf:value> <dc:creator> <foaf:Organization><foaf:name>FAO/GILW</foaf:name></foaf:Organization> </dc:creator> <dc:date>2007-10-22 00:00:00.0</dc:date> <dc:language> <dcterms:RFC1766> <rdf:value>EN</rdf:value> <rdfs:label>English</rdfs:label> </dcterms:RFC1766> </dc:language> </skos:changeNote> <skos:related rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_130"/> <skos:related rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_6064"/> <skos:related rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_11230"/> <skos:related rdf:resource="http://www.fao.org/aims/aos/agrovoc#c_49866"/> </skos:Concept> So they have different NTs, RTs, etc. Same with the other example in Spanish (even if I agree we should change the spanish preferred label for the concept Dyes - In this case there is no ambiguity). But I asked here to my colleagues that work with Thai agrovoc. There are for example 2 different concepts: "rice as a product" and "rice as a plant", but in Thai they use exactly the same word to represent both concepts. Note that the 2 concepts have different BTs, NTs... The preferred terms they use for both concepts is " ข้าว " which can be transliterlate as "Khao" for both concepts. Also in English... how do we call them? maybe also in English in this case the two concepts have preferred label "rice", no? Hope this helps regards Margherita -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Rubin [mailto:rubin@med.stanford.edu] Sent: Fri 08/02/2008 14:05 To: Sini, Margherita (KCEW) Cc: Antoine Isaac; SWD WG Subject: RE: [SKOS] ISSUE-32 ConceptSchemeLabellingInteractions The appropriate relation between those terms would be "EnglishEquivalent" or some such, not "preferredLabel".
