II'm forwarding an interesting usage of SKOS. FYI, Guus -------- Original Message -------- Subject: SKOS mash-up server Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2007 00:09:40 +0200 From: Eero Hyvönen <eahyvone@cc.hut.fi> To: <aisaac@few.vu.nl> CC: Guus Schreiber <schreiber@cs.vu.nl> Dear Antoine, (CC. Guus) We discussed at ISWC about SWD-WG and SKOS work your and Guus are involved in, and I promised to send you information concerning our ONKI Ontogy Server for SKOS. The idea of ONKI is simple: Using (SKOS) ontologies as mash-up applications analogous to Google Maps mash-ups! I think this kind of systems are desperately needed for adding ontology support cost-effectively to legacy systems and to enhance SW deployment, and organisations in Finland are very enhusiastic about this. ONKI is a server for publishing SKOS vocabularies (and ontologies) with minimal costs for humans (by browser + semantic autocompletion) and machines (via AJAX and web services). Online demos are available at (see especially the "ONKI annotation demo" link): http://www.seco.tkk.fi/services/onki/ Following new submitted papers explain the point: http://www.seco.tkk.fi/publications/submitted/viljanen-tuominen-hyvonen-onki-ontology-server-extending-legacy-systems.pdf http://www.seco.tkk.fi/publications/submitted/viljanen-et-al-distributed-semantic-content-creation-and-publication-for-cultural-heritage-legacy-systems.pdf BR Eero ___________________________________________ Eero Hyvönen, Professor Helsinki University of Technology, University of Helsinki, and HIIT Laboratory of Media Technology Semantic Computing Research Group (http://www.seco.hut.fi/) Room 2540 Otaniementie 17, Espoo, Finland P.O.
