Hi all, I wanted to give the Working Group an in-depth update on the status of the RDFa work. Lots has happened, and although we have fallen behind in terms of schedule, we're now closing in on a final set of documents. I want to mention three things: 1) many recent accomplishments 2) a new schedule 3) the state of our docs ========= 1) So, first, some recent accomplishments: - RDFa supported in Operator http://torrez.us/archives/2007/05/17/531/ - RDFa supported as input format in MIT's Exhibit http://rdfa.info/2007/06/17/exhibit-now-supports-rdfa/ - RDFa supported in HP's Jena http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-rdf-in-xhtml-tf/2007May/0050.html - RDFa library for Ruby on Rails http://myunderstanding.wordpress.com/2007/05/29/rdfa-on-rails-the-semantic-web-made-simple/ - an XHTML1.1+RDFa DTD, thanks to Shane, and the W3C validator team now has a beta version of the validator that validates XHTML1.1+RDFa correctly: http://validator-test.w3.org/ - validation icons to go along with the validator update, thanks to the w3c-comm team: http://validator-test.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fben.adida.net%2Fcard.xhtml#congrats - Lots of Great New Talks about RDFa at WWW2007 and XTech, in particular Elias Torres's. 2) We are behind our initial schedule, but we're closing in on a final set of documents. Our new schedule is: * 2007-06-28: Approve Core set of TCs (a few might be outstanding) * 2007-07-12: Major Syntax Issues Resolved. * 2007-07-19: RDFa Syntax Editors' Draft. RDFa TCs WD #1 to WG. * 2007-07-26: Final Version of Primer to include latest changes, goes to WG. * 2007-08-02: Final set of TCs approved by TF, submitted to WG. * 2007-08-09: Review of Feedback on RDFa Syntax doc. * 2007-08-30: RDFa Syntax WD (WG reviews). 3) State of our Documents. Currently, we expect that only the RDFa-in-XHTML1.1 Syntax Document will be normative and thus go REC track, assuming WG approval. Test Cases, DTDs, and schemas will be part of the REC track package in support of the syntax document, but we expect only the syntax to end up living in /TR. This syntax document is being completely reworked as we finalize the last few details of the syntax. We expect to have a version ready for review by mid-to-end of July. The Primer and the Use Case Requirements docs will be Notes. The Primer is in very good shape, with some pending small edits but most major issues resolved. The Use Case Requirements document is in decent shape. If you have any thoughts, questions, comments, please don't hesitate to send them to the list or to show up to our calls on Thursdays, 1500 UTC. -Ben Adida ben@adida.net
