What's a bit of cpu time here and there? The cvs add of the instances was going to take 60+ *cpu days* at its current rate. I just fixed that with a cvs hack that relies on knowing which of the instance files are really not already in the repository. Fortunately, the cvs commit appears to be nearly three orders of magnitude faster. SInce we base our scheme for mirror servers of w3.org on cvs, it's a whole lot easier for the systems folk to be treating this data as conventional data. The machines are supposed to be our servants, after all :)
