If I can be of any help, please let me know. For 1.3, I think, we should check out the benefits of semantic technology on autonomic computing (probably Phil knows all about that) but also on adaptive and reflective Middleware [1]. At least if I understand "self-organising" correctly. Then, I found another paper called "Model Driven Middleware" [2].
