ISSUE-2321: Consider removing/replacing filter margin attributes [SVG Filters 1.2] http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/WG/track/issues/2321 Raised by: Erik Dahlström On product: SVG Filters 1.2 [[ For a blur (as well as some other filters) it is useful to make the filter effects region larger than the bounding box of the object. However, this requires the region to larger by a fixed number of pixels (in user space coordinates), instead of being a multiple of the bounding box. (This was in fact the root cause of a bug reported for Inkscape, where a blur would disappear for a completely horizontal/vertical line.) ]] There is a proposal to replace the mx,my,mw,mh attributes with something that lets the UA calculate an appropriate margin automatically. It needs to be considered that this might break backwards compatibility (depending on how it's solved). There seems to be agreement on having the filter primitive subregion define a clipping area that affects the filter primitive output image: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-svg/2010Apr/0099.html Thread: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-svg/2010Apr/0070.html
