Ah, I was forgetting that `drawImage()` with more parameters allows you to clip an image. That does make it more confusing.

I can't easily imagine how the SVG _should_ be scaled if you specify a second set of numbers that don't match the dimensions of the first.  IMO, the most useful thing would be to treat them like an SVG View URL, overriding the viewBox. But that's definitely not something that one can assume from a spec written for bitmap images!
