I second this request, but while I could make use of sub-path stroke width to encode additional inormation, it would be nice to have something more generic like a CSS-class or an ID tag for every subpath. Similar to Susan's request from above, I am working on encoding additional information into the SVG file format to use it as a file exchange format for laser cutters. For that purpose it mainly needs to support the CSS _resize_ property, and CSS properties for sub-paths. With that feature-set, we could cover the necessary use-cases.
