Hello Amigos! Apologies for not having been more available this summer, but it has been a crazy one. I am back at my desk and podium at fair Slippery Rock and am marginally excited to have a new semester. I will be filling out my new hours for telcom activities that I hope to be able to be more involved in now that I have a more predictable schedule. The book.... I recall several of you volunteering to review sections of it and am interested in gathering together whatever you may have accomplished toward that end. I would love to be able to make an announcement of sorts at SVGOpen in the beginning of October. Though there are, as we are all aware, minor issues here and there, and several chunks left to be written, I have heard of no errors of fact or complaints that should prevent announcement of the book as "a work in progress." Does anyone? If you can get your comments to me by September 14th, I should be able to get them into the next version in time for the conference. Jeff has agreed, I believe, to allow some time for discussion in the meeting of the SVG-IG the day before the conference. I had hoped to have a session at the conference about the book, but alas one of the reviewers did not think it appropriate and the other neglected to review it, so this hope was dashed. I would appreciate brainstorming a bit on how we might use the conference as an opportunity to solicit and coordinate more collaboration on the book. Best David
