Hi, Chaals has just nominated me for the SVG-IG. I'd just like to introduce myself and say a little bit about what I can bring to the table. I've worked at Opera Software for around about 3 1/4 years now, in what we call Open the Web, and then the Developer Relations team. Our main aim is to evangelise web standards and the open web, and to improve compatibility between web sites and standards compliant browsers (with a focus on Opera, naturally). I've also worked at CERN. What I don’t bring to the table is massive SVG knowledge. I've been teaching myself from the spec, as I've been building a iTunes interface using HTML, CSS and SVG. I'm writing a SVG 101/Primer article to get people into the basics of SVG as I learn. That is almost finished. My main interest in SVG at the moment is using it through CSS background images, to enable easy to hand author scalable backgrounds (gradients, etc) and icons. I'd like to see better integration between (X)HTML, CSS and SVG. What I do bring to the table is over 3 years evangelism work, and talking to regular web developers, from well known designers (some of which we've even hired), to regular 9-5 developers that would never go to a web conference, never mind a SVG focused conference. I also have contacts through major companies and JS libraries. I also have some writing and blogging experience.
