SVG Tiny 1.2がW3C勧告

藤沢です。

最初のSVG Tiny 1.2のドラフトが公開された2003年12月から5年の歳月を経て、
この度SVG Tiny 1.2が12月22日付でW3C勧告になりましたのでお知らせします。

勧告案のレビューの過程では、今後のSVG JIS規格化を踏まえて仕様の名称をSVG
Tiny 1.2からSVG Core 1.2に変更することが提案されWG内で活発な議論がおこな
われました。

時間の問題もあり残念ながら最終段階での名称変更は見送られることになりまし
たが、Status of this Documentのセクションに以下の説明が追加されることで
位置付けがより明確化されたことは非常に良かったと思ってます。

As described in the abstract, this specification represents the core for
a set of modular extensions, but is named SVG Tiny for historical
reasons, as a profile for mobile devices. Future versions of this
specification will maintain backwards compatibility with previous
versions of the language, in a continuing line of technology, but will
bear the name "SVG Core" to represent this relationship.
