Re: [Solid26: Implementation Guide] On Solid26 (WAC|ACP)

Hi everyone 👋

Thanks Christoph, all I ask for is that we don't try to force 'consensus' but take our time to work through the current situation.

And yes, I recall you warning that trying to resolve this issue fast sounded hurray optimistic 👍

> Currently there are two approaches to access control in Solid - ACP has more capabilities, WAC is more widely used. In the short term, developers should use WAC where possible and fall back to ACP only where its extra capabilities are needed.

I think we should provide developers with clear features matrix, for example something like Rui created, so that they can make more informed choice.

Asking someone to blindly go with WAC, invest weeks or months of work, just to realize that it will not meet their requirements? It doesn't sound like a serious approach to me.

I also know that few people didn't express their point of view on the record yet and we should allow time for that.

Last but not least, LWS WG had very productive F2F meeting, which I joined as guest, and this whole WAC or ACP debate could become an implementation detail in not to far future. We should look at things with 2-3 years perspective in mind.

I would encourage everyone to be patient and we will resume regular CG activity starting next week. This week many of us can take a rare opportunity and celebrate Solid Week.

Best,
elf Pavlik
