Data commons, personal/commmunity pods and PDS migrators, funding potential (Was: Re: What's the current state of Solid?)

Hi Sjoerd

Two things caught my eye:

> Projects where we are applying to funding or would like funding:
> - Data commons energy project with multiple parties. Data being read with P1 measure instruments. Stored in Solid PODS, shared with community...

and
> - PDS migrator needs another push, anybody have some funding available?

Our currently informal collaboration (https://peduncle.world/) looks
at the interoperability of data, across resources - so not just
energy, but also water, and wider to natural and urban resources. I am
linking this with encouraging greater involvement and agency of
everyday people, as we need people to take more action at more
(hyper)-local levels in disaster management and a rapidly changing
climate, while maintaining accountability (to this end I have returned
to academia to study the sociology of this transformation of
expertise).

I have been informally collaborating with Jonas Smedegaard and his
https://solidbox.org/ concept, as well as with Kim Nevelsteen and his
IPSME spec - https://ipsme.dev/. While I am not a IT technical person,
and am not too sure what PDS migrators are, there may be potential for
PDS migrators and IPSME to perhaps inspire each other?

On the funding side, there is an open call that I intend to apply to:
"Science for Community – Building the marine Citizen Science data
network of the future to valorise data coming from the ocean and
increase engagement"
https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/opportunities/topic-details/horizon-miss-2024-ocean-01-04
with expected outcomes including:
- Establishment of a pan-European Marine Citizen Science data network,
bringing together actors of marine citizen science around Europe and
in neighbouring countries.
- Adaptation of data and metadata standards and methodological
approaches appropriate for use in marine citizen science based on the
existing European frameworks, as developed by SeaDataNet, EMODnet and
other marine data infrastructures;

I understand that Horizon calls are a LOT of admin and funding takes a
long time to come in. I have found that they are good to build
networks, and I am continually on the look out for other simpler and
more short-term avenues as well (e.g.
https://eurekanetwork.org/opencalls/network-projects-all-year/), so if
there's any interest across the list, even if not explicitly for such
a big bureaucratic funding call, let's chat!

best regards
Bernelle

The books should/could be synced with their lending history. They can manage the list themselves, give additional preferences what genres they like to read and then a recommender will give a list of books they might like. Interviews are being done by users, we are looking for ISBN data and the project has started.

Nextcloud is influx itself and therefore requires more updates than we would prefer. In the project are also included to enhance the test-suite again, create benchmarking software and change the default URL mode from tld/~name to name.tld as that is more in line with the security model of the web.

Stored in Solid PODS, shared with community and the supply and demand from the community is being shared back to the individual (pods). Depending on supply and demand, users/houses can decide to charge their car, do the laundry, heat the house, charge the batter, uncharge their batteries or stop solar panels in case of oversupply. This will impact the (regional) communities. It fits in a broader theme of data commons. We are in the final process of applying to funding for this project.
