Uldis Bojars from the Social Software Unit of DERI Galway here. I am a co-founder of the SIOC project [1] and have developed a number of tools [2] for expressing structured information from Social Web sites and importing this information back into them. The core of SIOC is a data format for expressing all essential information about the content and structure of online community sites. A good overview of SIOC can be found in "Interlinking the Social Web with Semantics" [3]. Currently I am finishing my PhD studies at DERI. My area of interest is the intersection of the Social Web and Semantic Web, and the exploration of how people use new kinds of social media (e.g. microblogging). Within the SocWeb XG, I am interested in how to interconnect Social Web sites and gain more that just a sum of individual parts. This includes the portability of social data, which we examine in more detail in [4].
