The opening of 5.1.2 now reads 

  This element is used for serialization of each attribute 
  node in the node set resulting from the evaluation of the 
  expression in an smlerr:output element.

I think "of the expression in" is a typo for "of the 'expression'
attribute on" or "of the expression in the 'expression' attribute 
on".
