Hello, There are many elements of warehousing semantic data that have yet to be solved, both in terms of efficient algorithms for storage, indexing, retrieval and visualization as well as in the core representation of knowledge. In developing tools and applications, I'm quite sure that both Mark and Egon appreciate outstanding challenges to both. Yet it's important to emphasize that both warehousing and data federation have their respective roles in data management, we shouldn't bother engaging in an argument about which is better. The Semantic Web is primarily about sharing data with explicit and meaningful relations using standardized KR languages, with the hopes that good schemas/ontologies will encourage data integration. Ultimately, making data/knowledge available helps reduce the burden of getting a project started so that people can focus on more interesting things, like knowledge discovery activities such as mashups, data mining and answering questions about life, the universe and everything. We'll get back to the science we really want to do soon enough.
