MD., Ph.D Director, Countway Library of Medicine, Harvard Medical School Chair, Informatics Program, Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School Co-director of the Harvard Medical School Center for Biomedical Informatics Co-director of i2b2, A National Center for Biomedical Computing Biomedical discovery science is increasingly hungry for large numbers of well phenotyped patients paired to corresponding biomaterials. Dr. Kohane will describe how the informational by-products of healthcare delivery can be harnessed to deliver phenotypes and biospecimens with the same volume and cost efficiency achieved by genomics measurement technologies. These solutions are now available as free and open source toolkits but require a highly engaged and competent group of information technologists.
